trees may be successfully planted any time of the year
that you can dig a hole in the ground but you will find
the best selection from early April through the end

Cherry
Fragrant white or pink flowers are abundant on these upright, vase-shaped trees in the spring. Growing up to 20 or 25 feet as a rule, they make for a wonderful focal point in your landscape. Birds are attracted to the fruits of these lovely trees. Wedel's has over a dozen varieties available; some weeping, some dwarf and some double-flowered.

Crabapple
For showy spring flowers, Crabapples have few rivals. Wedel's offers over 20 varieties to select from. Ranging from 8 to 25 feet high, with similar spread, Crabapples produce red berries that will attract birds, aside from the profuse blossoms for which it is prized. The 3 to 5 inch blooms may appear in white, pink or yellow, depending on the cultivar.

Dogwood
The graceful Dogwood is a favorite for the landscape. A slow to medium grower, the Dogwood offers year-round interest; the beautiful spring flowers, summer foliage and autumn color. In fall it produces berries, and in winter the bark and horizontal branching are attractive. Reaching a height of 20 to 30 feet, Dogwoods add beauty in masses or as an understory in partial shade.

Hawthorn
This hardy tree features shiny dark toothed leaves. In the spring, it produces white flowers. Hawthornes are thorned, as the name suggests, and also produce red round berries. Usually reaching a height of 12 to 15 feet, it can soar to 30, or it could be trained as a shrub or hedge. Hawthornes are best situated in full sun to partial shade.

Nannyberry
A Viburnum, Nannyberries are small trees with slender, arching branches. It produces profuse creamy white blossoms and fruits that become bluish-black. It is an ideal tree for naturalizing, shrub borders or as a background. Its height ranges from 10 to 15 feet, sometimes reaching as high as 20.

Pear
A lovely addition to any landscape, Pears explode in the spring with white blossoms. 10 plus varieties await you at Wedel's. These are medium sized trees whose green leaves turn to red and purple in the fall. Pears do best in full sun.

Plum
Flowering Plums are well-loved for their ornamental value. Among the earliest bloomers, the branches are covered with pink or white blossoms before the leaves appear. Heights can range from 18 to 30 feet. At Wedel's you will find several varieties, including dwarf and double flowering.

Redbud
Placed in the back of a shrub border or as a specimen, Redbuds prefer moist but well-drained soil. Their beautiful spring flowers may be pink or purple, depending on the variety. The zig-zag pattern of the branches is interesting in winter. Redbuds do well in full sun or partial shade.

Rose of Sharon
These small 8 to 12 foot trees produce lovely 4 to 5 inch trumpet shaped blooms from July to September. Wedel's carries several varieties, so you can choose the color! Rose of Sharon flowers best in full sun or bright shade; plant in humusy well-drained soil and enjoy a summer of exotic blooms.

Shadblow
A valuable and versatile tree, the Shadblow will adapt itself to its surroundings. In the spring, expect flowers before foliage. In summer, Shadblows produce sweet, edible red to purple fruits which will draw songbirds and wildlife to your landscape. In fall, the foliage will turn yellow, orange or dark red. Good in a variety of soils, Shadblows prefer full sun to partial shade.

Viburnum
Viburnums work great as hedges or in mass groupings They also make interesting specimen plants or anchors in borders. Most Viburnums are not self-pollinating and will require another variety to cross-pollinate with and yield fruit.
