Babys Breath
Baby's breath is a hardy annual able to withstand periods of short term drought. Native to Europe, it has naturalized throughout the eastern United States. Its flowers are white, forming dense delicate clusters. Prefers full sun in well-drained soils. Baby's Breath can not tolerate an acid soil.

Bachelors Button
Bachelors buttons bloom so prolifically with so little care that they often are the first plants that children grow on their own. The nickname "cornflower" comes from the fact that the plant grows wild in the grain fields of southern Europe. Depending upon the variety, plants will grow to between 1 and 3 feet tall and are most effective when massed in beds and borders for color. Bachelor buttons are a cutting garden favorite, and they are one of the easiest flowers to dry for everlasting arrangements.

Bee Balm
Bee Balm is a perennial herb native to Eastern North America. It has showy, red, pink, or lilac flowers in large heads or whorls of about 20-50 flowers at the top of the branching stem, supported by leafy bracts,the leaflets are a pale-green color.Bee Balm is easily grown in ordinary garden soil. It also grows well in heavy clay soils, requires a part shade to sunny place to grow.

Blackberry Lily
Blackberry Lily, Belamcanda chinensis, has a deceptive name. It is actually not a lily but a member of the iris family. The foliage is sword-like, similar to an iris, and matures to 3' tall. The name Blackberry Lily is actually in recognition of the cluster of black seeds. The seedpods can be left in the garden for more plants or cut and used in floral arrangements.

Also known as Caryopteris, Bluebeard and Blue Mist Spirea. Count on a long blooming period with this fragrant, compact plant with a mounding habit. Blue Mist will adapt to most soils and moisture conditions. At approximately 2 feet by two feet, this plant is a good border for beds or walkways.

False Dragonhead
False Dragonhead may seem similar to “true” Dragonhead, but this member of the mint family is different! With willow-like dark green leaves, its delicate flower spires may bloom in white, pink, lavender or purple. This plant spreads quickly, pushing out weeds, and may need to be divided in the spring. False Dragonhead is also known as Obedient Plant, as the flower heads may be turned by hand, and will retain the new position. It is also deer-resistant.

One of the tallest varieties of Iris, these graceful plants grow from 28 to 40 inches high. Hardy and vigorous, German Iris produce lovely blooms amid clumps of sword-shaped leaves. You have only to select the color, as there are many to choose from! Some varieties of German Iris re-bloom, and all are ignored by deer.

Loosetrife
In Michigan, when we hear “Loosestrife”, we think of the pervasive Purple Loosestrife which is undesirable. At Wedel’s, however, you will find a Loosestrife variety that is a keeper! Hairy Loosestrife has attractive burgundy foliage and large, yellow star-shaped flowers. It prefers wet conditions, such as pond edges and bogs, but will work in a moist border or wild garden.

Rose Mallow is often mistaken for Hibiscus, or Rose of Sharon. It grows to a height of 3 to 5 feet. It is a vigorous and fast grower, with profuse blossoms that can reach 4 inches across. Rose Mallow is not particularly choosy about soil.
