Ajuga
Also known as Bugleweed, Ajuga is a member of the mint family. This fast-growing groundcover spreads by way of runners. Its extensive root system provides good erosion control for hillsides. Ajuga is available in many varieties; the foliage colors range from green to bronze, and the blossoms are usually purplish blue, but may be rose or white. Ajuga blooms from early spring until mid-July; when in bloom it reaches 6 to 9 inches in height.

Euonymus
Euonymus is available in many forms. Euonymus Fortunei is commonly known as Wintercreeper, which is an evergreen groundcover. This is a fast-growing plant which provides good erosion control. Pachysandra
Just right for shady places, Pachysandra is a slow growing groundcover. It has rich green foliage; the flowers and fruit are inconspicuous. Pachysandra is a good choice for edging, foundations or under trees where nothing else will grow. It does well in any soil other than heavy clay, as it spreads by way of underground runners, and will eventually become a thick mat approximately 1 foot tall. Pachysandra is deer-resistant.

Sedum
Sedum, or Stonecrop, is a succulent groundcover. It thrives in shade to full sun and is drought tolerant. The many varieties of Sedum are excellent choices for filling in bare spaces and for rock gardens or the tops of walls. Plant in well-drained soil. Sedum is also good for controlling erosion.
