Celosia
Extraordinary in color and form, Celosia is available in three popular species. Plume Celosia shoots up fiery feathers in red or gold-orange, while Cockscomb Celosia resembles the comb atop a rooster’s head. The third species, Wheat Celosia, is not as brilliant as the others, but is beautiful in its own right; whitish spires add an upright element to the flower bed.

Also known as Spider Flower, these tall 3 to 6 foot beauties are excellent choices for the back of a flower bed or as a temporary shrub. Many varieties exist, and will flower all season long. Cleome withstands drought, but water frequently. Cleome attracts hummingbirds. Choose a white, rose or violet color.
