What seeds can I sow directly into garden soil?

The best answer to this question is: check the package directions. The seed packets are an excellent source for germination times and days-to-maturity information as well as proper sowing methods.

What soil should I use?

When starting seeds indoors, use a good seed starting soil such as Fertilome Seedling and Cutting Starter Soil, milled sphagnum or a good, light-weight potting soil.

When can I transplant my seedlings outdoors?

The average last day of frost in our area is May 15. Use this as a guide. Since there could be a frost after that date, it would be advisable to wait until all danger of frost has passed. Otherwise, be prepared to cover your young plants when frost is a danger.
