Are annuals good for container gardens?

Annuals are an excellent choice for container gardens. They should be planted at least 4" apart to allow for growth.

How far apart should annuals be planted?

Most annuals should be planted 6" to 8" apart. When planning your bed, keep in mind that annuals grow to different heights when mature. You will probably want the taller ones behind the shorter.

How much sun do annuals need?

Many annuals require full sun - six or more hours per day. Some, such as begonias and impatiens do best in shaded areas.

Deadheading is the practice of removing spent blossoms in order to encourage more abundant blooming.

Will my lawn irrigation system work for my flower beds?

It is best to avoid over-head watering because watering from above can create conditions favorable for the propagation of botrytis fungus. For the best results, use a soaker hose or drip watering system.
